At a small monastery where Fr. John Mary lived in France they used little stools like this for seating in their oratory. It is similar to the benches used in the hesychast tradition of eastern Christianity, and can also be used a stand or small altar. We have named this particular stool in honor of the Biblical, contemplative saint, holy Elijah who lived deeply the prayer of the heart. It is made entirely from cherry wood, finished with linseed oil and beeswax, and carved with a Jerusalem Cross and Miraculous Medal insignia. It measures roughly 21 inches long x 14.5 inches tall x 7 inches wide.
